Known as the "Disability Scholar," Dr. Roosevelt Mitchell has spent more than two decades empowering students, educators, and communities to overcome adversity and unlock potential. His work is deeply rooted in both professional expertise and lived experience.
Born with a physical disability, Dr. Mitchell grew up in a home impacted by poverty, addiction, mental health challenges, and the realities of a single-parent household. Despite these obstacles, he became the first person in his family to earn a college degree, become an educator, and ultimately earn a doctorate.
Because he has personally experienced the uncertainty, fear, and hopelessness that many young people face, Dr. Mitchell brings a level of authenticity that resonates with audiences. His message is not based solely on research—it is built on resilience, perseverance, and the belief that circumstances do not define a person's future.
